There’s a battle going on in the Middle East, more than just the political battles reported on network news. As more people are coming to faith in Christ through the media ministry of Back to God Ministries International, our staff—and the new believers—face serious risk. “We have been receiving requests from some ‘listeners’ and chat room members to tell them more details about those who with whom they connect through our website,” reports BTGMI Arabic ministry leader. “They want names, addresses, nationalities. We ignore the requests because we know that some are spies for radical Islamic groups.” We’ve been seeing a growing number of visitors to our website chat room in response to the Dardasha radio broadcast. Many are Muslim seekers asking honest questions about faith, the Bible, and Jesus Christ. “MT” from Yemen wrote, “I need to learn more about what Christianity teaches about life after death. There are…[

Amidst the turmoil in the Middle East, several churches have closed. The only two evangelical congregations in Libya (Benghazi and Tripoli) have disbanded. Most of their members, originally from other Arab nations, fled the country and the few Libyan believers left are too afraid to meet, except in secret. However, thanks to media missions people in the Middle East still have access to the Gospel. In fact, Back to God Ministries International Arabic team is receiving responses from both Christians living in this region and from Muslims who are starting to question the actions of those associated with radical Islam. Hearts are opening to the message of the Gospel. D.M from Morocco wrote, “I learned a new lesson: I am not alone when Issa is with me and He is with me all the time.” In response to recent events, our Arabic broadcast team introduced a new short segment entitled…[

Our Arabic ministry team is blessed with many young producers with innovative ideas for reaching our Middle East audience—the majority of whom are Muslim listeners. About a year ago, this creative team developed a new approach and program format under the title Dardasha (Arabic for “Chat”). And we’re seeing impressive results! “Our programs seek to engage all kinds of Arabs, but especially the youth, to consider various life issues,” explains Back to God Ministries International Arabic ministry leader. “In this way we are able to gently expose false assumptions by the pure light of the Gospel of Christ.” Working in partnership with MERF (Middle East Reformed Fellowship) and Words of Hope (the media ministry of the Reformed Church in America) the Arabic team produces the daily thirty-minute program which is broadcast throughout all twenty-two countries of the Arab League. The program covers a variety of segments, including devotionals, drama, interviews,…[

The constitutions of many Middle Eastern countries provide for religious freedom, yet evangelizing Muslims and conversion from Islam is forbidden. In some places, Back to God Ministries International Arabic broadcasts may be the only way for people in these countries to hear the Gospel. Our Arabic staff receives poignant emails from listeners within these countries. Tariq from Jordan wrote, “This evening I am listening with my sister. She and I don’t want our father to know this. We are learning much about the religion we grew up to think of as false.” Without these broadcasts, Tariq and his sister might never hear the truth of Jesus Christ. Back to God Ministries International partners with MERF (Middle East Reformed Fellowship) and Words of Hope, the media ministry of the Reformed Church in America to air the daily half-hour Arabic broadcasts. Programs are aired on powerful medium wave transmitters, blanketing all of…[

Earlier this year Back to God's Arabic ministry received a message from Hassan (name changed to protect his identity). Hassan lives in Saudi Arabia, a country where religious freedom is egregiously suppressed. Nevertheless, through radio broadcasts, Hassan was able to hear the truth about Jesus Christ. Hassan, who identified himself as an educated professional, responded to our Arabic radio message: "What I really appreciate about your programs in general and what I heard this evening is that you again and again clearly prove how Issa el Masih (Jesus Christ) is superior to the greatest of all human beings... "Musa (Moses) was a true prophet but he could not compare to Jesus," Hassan added. "It is so clear to me why Jesus represented the true Allah (God) who revealed Himself to humanity." Our Arabic staff began a series of conversations with Hassan, discipling him in the Christian faith. Praise God that…[

A few weeks ago Back to God Ministries International Arabic outreach team received a very angry and threatening text message. The message came from a Jordanian Muslim fanatic in response to a radio discussion on the words of Jesus about prayer in the Sermon on the Mount: "When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." (Matthew 6:7-8)The radio program did not specifically mention Islam or Muslim prayers. But this teaching of Jesus seems to have touched a very sensitive nerve in this man's religious insecurity. Undoubtedly he prays faithfully five times every day, including the prescribed prayer at sunrise. Every day he repeats the same words again and again as he faces Mecca, after carrying out the prescribed washings. He…[
