Radio Choir

A Note from Dolly Strikwerda

A sincere thanks for sending me a copy of an ancient recording of the Back to God Hour Radio Choir*! That really stirred a lot of memories.

Meeting at the seminary early Sunday mornings, rehearsing, and then complete silence as we waited for the signal from Chicago! All ears and eyes focused on our talented director, Professor James De Young, as we waited for his cue!

I remember some of the songs, especially “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling!” The music was so different from what we hear today. And we closed every broadcast with “Unto God Almighty Sitting on the Throne.”

We went on tours during spring break. That was always a great time. We so enjoyed traveling with Rev. Eldersveld and his wife! We stayed at homes of people from the various congregations where we sang. We even went into Canada. That was quite meaningful for me and my seminarian brother, John Hofman, who also sang, as we were both born and raised in southern Alberta.

Thanks again for sending the recording. We trust that the Lord will continue to bless Back to God Ministries International as it strives to bring the great news of the Gospel to many. We are thankful that we have been blessed and can help in a small way to further the great message of salvation!

Thoughts and Prayers!
